Mojo Monday on a Tuesday

I've been working on a few things, but in the midst of that I made sure to make something just for fun (even though I always have fun making whatever I'm making).  I saw the Mojo Monday sketch and decided to make a square card.  I really would like to get some Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities so that I can make big circle cards and various other shapes, but it will have to wait for now.  I settled for a smaller 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" card using the new Simon Says card kit.  In all honesty it's intimidating for me to color a rose.  I get so confused with the overlapping petals and how I should color them with regards to light.  I just decided to color and not worry about it.
The set is called Best Mom Ever.  It's quite a lovely set.

Stamps:  Best Mom Ever
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Sahara Sand
Paper:  May 2013 SS Card Kit
Accessories:  Copics RV34, R85, cream twine, foam tape

Thanks for stopping in.  I'm hoping to get more 'play time' later today!

A little Mixability

Today has been a good day.  It hasn't been super productive, but it has been a good day.  The weather is wonderful.  I got to see my husband receive an award this morning at an Army breakfast.  The kids are using today's school day as a 'make up' day.  Plus, I got to play a bit in my 'craft cave'.  It is a good day :)

I like to stretch my creative limbs a bit and try new things.  Today over at Splitcoaststampers they have a new Mix-ability challenge, and today's challenge is called Mr. Squiggle.  You have to use two different kinds of medium. . .mine are inks and chalks, and the challenge is to doodle.  I didn't use a single stamp on my card.  It surprised me too!

I've been enjoying mixing up my backgrounds using various inks and water.  After I made the background, I wrote out my sentiment and drew my stars.  They were then colored with some chalks, and I love how those yellow stars just stand out.

Ink:  Distress Faded Jeans, SU Wisteria, S.E.I. blue fabric ink
Paper:  watercolor, SU Yoyo Yellow, SU Wisteria
Accessories:  water spritzer, black Copic pen 0.3, yellow chalk, corner chomper, foam tape

Sweet RAK from a Sweet Friend

Hey everyone!  Happy Wednesday!  I just wanted to show off this lovely surprise that I got in the mail from my dear friend Lisa.  Isn't she just the sweetest?!  She said she saw the little stamp in the store and thought of me because she knows I like to color. . .I'm a blessed girl to be thought of I tell ya!  I know you all know Lisa (stamp and card designer), so I just had to show off the gorgeous card she made me along with the darling package she made for that oh so yummy divine watermelon twine!

I got to coloring right away with the beautiful flower stamp, and this is what I came up with.  I used the Techno Stamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch for my card.  Would you believe I found some very old rub-ons while cleaning and decided that they needed some love {grin}.

Stamp:  Studio112 Stamp
Ink:  Memento Espresso Truffle
Accessories:  Copics, Charles embossing folder, sponge, SU rub-on

Thanks for stopping in!

Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit

Scroll down for the CDS Blog Hop

My birthday was just a couple of weeks ago, and my sister gave me the hardest time about turning 35.  Gotta love younger sisters!  Just a few days ago she gave birth to another adorable niece of mine, and I couldn't be more excited!  However, she is turning 30 next month, and you have to know that I wasn't going to let that pass without a bit of commotion ;)

I made her this card using my Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit from April.  I love the colors and the splashes of black throughout the kit. . .gorgeous!  I combined the kit with the stamp set from TE called Milestone Markers and the TE Whimsy #'s.  I added a bit of Black Viva Pearl pen along with some hand drawn lines around the the yellow block.  I think she's going to like it ;)
 Stamps:  Milestone Markers
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  April TE Key Ingredients Kit
Accessories:  ribbon from kit, TE Whimsy #'s, prima flowers, Black Viva Pearl Pen, black pen, corner chomper

Goat-tee

I played along with the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge this morning, and came up with a birthday card for my son's friend at the same time.

He has grown accustomed to making special requests for birthday cards, which is something I love.  They can't imagine buying a card from a store when Mom is right here to make a special one!  What he really wanted was for me to make a card with a minotaur on it.  Honestly, I was stumped so he had to come up with a different idea. . .a goat with facial hair, hehe.  I managed to do it, but now I know a way to make the minotaur.  I'll be saving that for his birthday ;)

Stamps:  Green Acres, Sentiment Sampler, Chubby Chums (Paper Smooches)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Inks: Peeled Paint, Black Soot, Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass
Paper:  watercolor, Neenah Solar White, SU Yoyo Yellow
Accessories:  washi tape, black embossing powder, foam tape
Copics:  T1, T3, T5, T7, Y13, Y17, 100

Joann's was having a super sale on their papercrafting section, and I happened to have a coupon for an extra 25% off my purchase for my birthday month.  I ended up getting a bunch of goodies for 75% off! I have a few new Distress Inks along with the Craft Mat (so stoked about that), so I made my background.  It is such a fun way to make a background, and I am sort of addicted so this won't be the last time you see that watercolored background :D

I better get the kids up and start school.  Thanks for stopping in this morning!

Be Strong

Happy Saturday everyone!  I don't have a lot of time, because we have baseball / softball games all day; however, I did have time last night to make something for the Splitcoaststampers Mixability challenge.  Oh I luuurve my stamps and getting inky.  The challenge was to use the negatives from our dies to create a fun background or focal image.  I used the negatives from my TE Twiggy Branch and my Curved Rectangle Nestabilities to create this card.  Oh, I am definitely doing that again :D

The background was watercolored and the twiggy was made using direct ink to paper.  I splattered some ink onto the background using a toothbrush, and the set I used is called In the Word from Taylored Expressions.

Okay, I better run!

Birthday Bot

Well, it was back to the grind this morning after a couple of weeks of Spring Break.  At least, that's what it was for us since my husband happened to have a couple of weeks off.  That never really happens, so when it does we take advantage.  It was also my birthday weekend.  We had a very successful garage sale the morning of my birthday, and then my husband surprised me with a few friends over that night.  It was such a great time.

This is a big birthday month for our family.  My nephew's birthday is in a few days and my mother's the day after that.  Plus, my sister is due any day now with baby #2.  I'm so super excited, because my birthday present is a trip out to see her and help out after the baby is born!

This particular card I made is for my nephew.  He's turning 5, so the little Birthdaybot set from There She Goes Stamps was perfect for him.  I used the Mojo Monday sketch and colored on kraft paper with my Copics.  This is my first attempt, and it was great!  As you can tell from my picture, it was a bit hard to photograph. . .or maybe it was laziness since most of the day is gone :p
Stamps:  Birthdaybot
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  kraft, MME Funday Kraft
Accessories:  Copics, white Prismacolor pencil, foam tape

I'm off to check some papers from our school day.  It has been a rough start back after a long time off. . .for all of us, haha.  Thanks for stopping in!

A Deconstructed Sketch

I stole some time yesterday in between all of the 'purging' to make this card for the Deconstructed Sketch.  I used the Fancy Pants papers along with a Simon Says Stamp set called Happy Every Day.  I embossed the sentiment in white and apparently forgot to use my embossing buddy over the black cardstock first.  As you can see, it's littered with white specs of embossing powder. . .oops!

Otherwise I really like how the card turned out!  I made it for a friend, because we both potentially have some big changes over the horizon.  We are both trusting God, which is the best plan of action :)

This card measures 5 1/2" x 3 1/4", which fits perfectly in the matching Fancy Pants envelopes!  LOVE!

Thanks for stopping in!

Happy Birthday Simon Says!

I've been a bit MIA lately, but for good reason.  My husband has been on leave for this week and some of last.  We had big plans to really doing some Spring Cleaning, but it turned into Spring Purging and we are now having a massive garage sale this weekend.  Of course it will be my birthday this Saturday, but it's the only Saturday that we have in the for-seeable future that doesn't have baseball / softball games.  Regardless we are hoping to make a bit of money to put toward a beach trip :)

I did find some time to play last night, and decided to play along in the Simon Says Stamp 'Happy Birthday' challenge.  It's their 4th birthday, so Happy Birthday Simon Says Stamp!  They have some pretty great prizes up for grabs, so you may want to check it out.

This card uses the SS stamp called Happy Everyday and is featured in their April Card Kit along with all of the other goodies I used on this card.  There's a lot of bang for your buck in that monthly kit.

I'm going to get back to pricing, but I'm hoping to have a bit more time to craft this week.  Thanks for stopping in!

The papers in the kit are so beautiful, and I can't wait to show you a few more things that I've made with it.  Last month Taylor made a few changes to the subscription of Key Ingredients, and if you don't know about them you can find out about them HERE.  There are three different kits and all are a fantastic deal, but the best deal comes from the Deluxe Kit that includes both the Stamp of the Month and the papers.  Check out this benefit:
