Be Still. . .

It's been a crazy few weeks around here, as I'm sure it's been for you all. I haven't been feeling good enough to stamp lately, so I've been doing the bare minimum. Since it is my 'out' that makes me sad. However, I made myself get in there yesterday, and I made a couple of things.

One of the things I made was this card using a digital image from Clear Dollar Stamps called Quiet Rocking Chair. I paired it with one of the scriptures that comes with it, and it is one of my favorite scriptures.
Psalm 46:10 tells us to 'Be still and know that I am God.'

Wow. All I need to do is hear it, read it, or say it, and I know that He has it all under control. I highlighted the words 'still' and 'God' with a Copic marker. In the midst of our yuckiness, He cares, He sees, He has us, and He is STILL GOD.
I made this card using a couple of challenges. The first was a sketch from Sketch Saturday, and the other was a color challenge from iCopic.
Images: Quiet Rocking Chair
Ink: Vintage Photo & Black Soot Distress inks
Paper: BG Curio, Pineapple Twist (CDS), Cottonball White (CDS)
Copics: Y21, Y23, W1, E47, E49, E53, YR02
Accessories: sponges, Rolled Flower Die (MFT), Cinnamon Stickles

I'll post my other card tomorrow. . .you know. . .try to spread out the goodness ;)

New Digis at Clear Dollar Stamps!

It's the 15th! So that means that there are new Digis available at Clear Dollar Stamps! I'm showing you a digital image called Gouda Day. If you like working with digital images, or never have tried them but would like to, CDS digital images are fantastic! Most of the digis are sold in sets like this one. This set has 10 images in it for such an outstanding price, and some of them are even precolored for those that want a super quick card.

Let me share a little why I colored my mice like this. When my husband deployed for the first time in 2005, my kids were young. For fun we would go to our local pet store and check out all of the animals. That year while he was gone we ended up with a puppy, a kitten, and a fancy rat. Yes, I had lost a good portion of my mind by the time we had gotten all of that. Jerry, our fancy rat, is no longer with us. . .he didn't live long. However, the title of 'fancy rat' still makes me giggle. I used to tell people that Jerry was not your 'run of the mill' rat, like him being this color was any better. . .HE WAS STILL A RAT! He was a rat that would bite, and I cleaned his cage every other day, because he stunk. Needless to say, we will never get another rodent, lol.

My kids like this card, because they say it reminds them of Jerry. It's a much better way to have a mouse. . .in a digital image, LOL!
Images: Gouda Day
Paper: BG Wander, Tropical Mist, Cottonball White
Accessories: Prismacolor & gamsol, white brads, Labels 11 Nestabilities, Strawberry Jam ribbon

There are a bunch more images to see, so make your way through the CDS Digital team (their links are on my sidebar)! You won't want to miss out on all of the CDS Digi goodness :D

Limited Supplies

I'm going to show a couple of cards today, but they are cards I made while away for my grandfather-in-law's funeral. It was obviously not a 'plan ahead' type of trip, and I knew I would need some crafting to help me cope, so I had to just grab stuff and hope it was enough. It was a real test in crafting essentials. I ended up grabbing my most recent Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kits (because they come with coordinating paper, dp, ribbon, and usually an accessory.) Along with that I grabbed a cutter, my tape gun, dimensionals, a sponge, 2 clear stamp sets, a block, 2 inks, a few more small matching accessories, and my prismacolor pencils. All of this (except my prismacolors, & my paper cutter) fit nicely into the plastic case that my TE KI kit came in, so it all fit nicely in my luggage.

I used a couple of retiring sets from Clear Dollar Stamps called Ageless Antiques & Kitchen Clutter. They are fairly recent purchases for me, because I had been admiring them for quite sometime. Clearance and retiring was enough motivation for me to purchase those babies, hehe. Based on my limited supplies I was only able to have straight edge cuts, but as you can see these cards turned out pretty good regardless of fancy cuts. It just goes to show that you CAN make some decent cards when you do have limited supplies!

This one is from Ageless Antiques. I love these mixers (although I don't have one), but like my bff, Christi, sorta said, the mixer is the icon for the kitchen.
Stamps: Ageless Antiques
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Paper: unknown red, OA Modern Homemaker, buttercream (all from the TE KI Kit)
Accessories: Prismacolor & gamsol, green rhinestones, dimensionals, yellow ribbon, sponge
Here is a card using the Kitchen Clutter. I love those little images that you can mix and match.
Stamps: Kitchen Clutter
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Paper: unknown blue, OA Modern Homemaker, buttercream (all from the TE KI Kit)
Accessories: Prismacolor & gamsol, sponge, dimensionals, cream half-back pearls, green ribbon
So, there you go! They could technically fit into some challenges for this week, but I didn't make them for any specifically. These were just made on the fly with limited supplies, to show you that it can be done :D

A little Mojo

I feel like I can't post nearly as much as I would like. Believe me, I am certainly creating things, but not all of it is cards. I've been sewing most of the Christmas gifts this year. Didn't know I could sew too, did ya? My machine died this year. . .R.I.P. my poor 10 year old Kenmore. That brought me to tears, but my mom reminded me that she has an amazing 10 year old Bernina! My mom lives with us, but has spent most of her time working, so sewing has not been something she's had a bunch of time for. That, and her machine has been in storage. Well, mine sputtering out it's final breath has brought hers to the house! Not only am I using it, but my mom can now start quilting again. . .YAY! Believe me, that woman can quilt!

Anyway, onto my card. . .I got a bit sidetracked there, hehe. I made this card for the Mojo Monday challenge. Mojo always has great sketches to try your hand at. I pulled out my new Blooming Bouquet set and Blooming Bouquet Die from Clear Dollar Stamps for this one. I added the set called Healing Scriptures for some sentiment, and voila!
Stamps: Blooming Bouquet & Healing Scriptures
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Hot Cocoa (CDS), Red Velvet Cake (CDS)
Paper: Vanilla (CDS), Hot Cocoa (CDS), Cotton Candy (CDS), Ripe Olive (CDS), BG Curio
Accessories: Blooming Bouquet Die, dimensionals, sponges, Star Dust Stickles, Old Olive ribbon (SU), Vanilla Ribbon
Maybe I'll get a little camera happy in this Christmas crafting craziness to snap a few pictures of my sewing projects, but don't hold your breath, haha.

Card Patterns #93

It's Monday, and a busy one at that with lots going on so I won't bore you with all of those details. Just know that I am so happy I got a chance to make a card, whew! I made this one using the Card Patterns sketch. They always have such great sketches. I used the digital image called Snow Crocus from Clear Dollar Stamps.
Images: Snow Crocus
Paper: BG Green at Heart, Cottonball White (CDS), Spruce Needle (CDS)
Accessories: Copics, oval punch, scalloped edge punch, dimensionals, Spruce Needle ribbon (CDS)

Three Shades of Blue: Clearly Inspired Challenges #20

Don't start to panic, but did you know that it's the first weekend in December?! Ok, now I'm started to panic a bit. . .wow lots to do! Well, with it being the first Friday of the month that means it's time for another Clearly Inspired Challenge over at the Clearly iStamp blog! This month brings a color challenge: 3 shades of blue with a neutral black/white. I used my Snow Flourishes set from Clear Dollar Stamps, which is an absolute perfect set for snowflakes and winter. You could whip out some crazy fast Christmas cards with that puppy too! This card would have taken me no time had I not added the fun glitzed up snowflake, which was still a pretty easy embellishment.
My big snowflake was made by putting a 3" x 3" square of Turquoise Gem (from CDS) over a 3" x 3" sheet of Scor-tape (also from CDS). I then cranked that puppy through my Cuttlebug with one of my Snowflake Nestabilities dies. I pealed off the cover to the sticky goodness that is Scor-tape, and covered my adorable snowflake in Clear Microbeads (ALSO from CDS). CDS is offering a bunch of new Microbead colors that are new to the store this month!
Stamps: Snow Flourishes
Ink: Deep Sea (CDS), Turquoise Gem (CDS), Tropical Mist (CDS), Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Cottonball White (CDS), Turquoise Gem (CDS), Night Eclipse (CDS)
Accessories: Scor-tape sheet, Snowflakes 1 Nestabilities, black button, dark blue wire, sponge, circle punches, Tropical Mist ribbon (CDS)

So with that great of a color challenge, and knowing you (if you're like me) need to make a few more Christmas cards to send out, go grab your CDS stamps and join in the fun! Don't have any?. . .well CDS is offering up an adorable FREE digi Snowman to join in the challenge! If that isn't incentive enough there is always great prizes to be won! I can't wait to see what you come up with :D

Christmas Gift Card Holder

Are you already feeling the crunch of tons to do this month like me? Wow, there seems to be so much to do. . .why do I procrastinate so much, lol?! Living as far away from all family like we do, gift cards seem to be the easiest to send to the older nieces and nephews. I try to make them cute holders that are a bit different from years past. The challenge over at Crafty Creations to make gift card holders inspired me to make this one.

This super easy one was made with a November release from Clear Dollar Stamps called Designer Label Celebrations that goes so perfectly with the new CDS Designer Label Die. This isn't a typical size card. It measures 3" x 6" and fits nicely in a 3 1/4" x 6 1/2" envelope, but there is room on the inside of my card for the GC and a sweet message.
Here is a closer look at the sentiment. The birth of Christ certainly is a reason to celebrate!
Stamps: Designer Label Celebrations
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Wild Huckleberry (CDS)
PBoldaper: Wild Huckleberry (CDS), Vanilla (CDS), Mitten Weather CC
Accessories: Designer Label Die (CDS), silver cord, silver brads, dimensionals, sponge

Thanks for stopping by today :)
